Fault Diagnosis
Self diagnostic system, Torq and Quando (Edited revision of manual entry)
The controller is programmed with a self diagnostics system to identify some of the possible causes of the motor failing to run. To use this function, count the number of continuous blinks on the controller box red LED when the fault is present.
Blinks Fault Recommended Action
LED on Function normal
2 times Brake lever cut-off operating Check lever return spring, See Brake Cutout.
3 times Brake lever cut-off operating Check lever return spring, See Brake Cutout.
4 times Throttle not returning fully Check throttle free movement or for spring fault
5 times Throttle faulty Check throttle connections and cable, or replace
6 times Low voltage Charge battery
7 times Excessive voltage* Measure voltage with multi tester
8 times Hall sensor in motor faulty Replace motor core
9 times Wrong motor connected* Replace
10 times Overheated, thermostat activated Will return to normal after cooling down
11 times Thermostat faulty Replace controller
12 times Current control fault Controller faulty, replace unit
*These faults very unlikely ever to happen.
If there's no readout of any of the above and the red LED on the controller is lit, check the controller function in this way. Operate a brake lever and the LED should first go out, then flash 2 or 3 times in quick succession. If this doesn't happen, it's possible that the controller is faulty.
Other than the above, the main possibility of failure is a connection fault, either at a connector or just possibly due to a broken cable. The cable routing diagram below may help you in checking the relevant connection points without having to cut tiewraps to trace cable destinations, and the Wiring page has advice on dealing with any connection fault.
Below is a simple routing diagram for the wiring on the Torq 1 and Quando bikes, but for the fullest details download the eZee Technical Service Manual for all models from my website on this link or from the eZee bike website. Download size: 2.45 mB.
