Lithium Battery Charger Units
There are two chargers at present for the Panasonic lithium polymer batteries, a base charger that's normally supplied with the e-bikes and an optional travel charger, more convenient to carry on the bike. Both are shown in the photographs here. The chargers are switchmode constant voltage chargers which charge the pack to approximately 29.4v using up to 1.8A of current.
A full charge can take up to six hours consuming up to 62 Watts when charging, the consumption when idle being 3 Watts. A full charge from a totally flat pack with fast flashing LED indication will consume 0.32kWh of electricity at around 85% efficiency. The cost of the charge is therefore about a third of a unit's cost on your standard electricity supply tariff.
